About Poythress Homes

Quality Custom Value

When Terry Poythress began Poythress Homes in 1992, he had over 26 years of construction experience and a well-established reputation for quality and value. He recognized the need for personalized service in the Cary custom home market and committed to building each home as if it were his own.

Poythress Homes continues that tradition and upholds the highest standards for each and every home built. Throughout the years, we have been fortunate to receive multiple honors and awards, and have been recognized by the Triangle Business Journal, Wake County Parade of Homes and several home building publications.

Our team never takes its success for granted. Poythress Homes appreciates the relationships it has built over decades serving both its homeowners and community partners. In addition to his home building company, Terry also owns and runs a very successful commercial company, Poythress Commercial Construction. Over his 26 years in business, Terry has been recognized as one of the top 25 general contractors in the Triangle multiple years. Additionally, he received the small business of the year award from the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, as well as a national award for one of the best commercial projects.

Poythress Homes has new custom homes underway in Preston Retreat, Montvale at Copperleaf and Autumnwood in Cary.

Green Home Builders Member

Green Home Builders of the Triangle

As a member of Green Home Builders of the Triangle, Poythress Homes employs building techniques and materials that result in homes that consume fewer resources and less energy, facilitate better indoor air quality and provide a more durable product that requires less maintenance over time. Our homes undergo a 3rd-party-verified certification program based on the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) — a consensus-based industry standard that provides four levels of certification that include bronze, silver, gold and emerald. In order to achieve a certificate for one of our homes, we must enroll the home in the program, complete a scoresheet to show sufficient goals are being met in each of the program checklist areas, include those components during construction, and work with a third-party verifier who checks to ensure that adequate goals have been met. All of this ensures that a Poythress built home has met rigorous industry standards that exceed most homes on the market today.

LiveGreen

Certified LiveGreen Builder

Poythress Homes is a certified Live Green builder. This means our homes are designed and built to standards well above most other homes on the market today, delivering energy efficiency savings of up to 30 percent when compared to non-Live Green homes. Our Live Green certified homes have undergone a process of inspections, testing and verification to meet strict requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), delivering better quality, better comfort, and better durability. Rest assured that with a Poythress Live Green certified home, you and your family will reap the benefits for many years to come.

Mary and I are delighted with our new Poythress home.  The build quality from framing to flooring and interior finish is exceptional.  The Poythress team was courteous, professional and very responsive throughout the process.
